Carli - The Paris Wife

4 stars

I really enjoyed this book.  It is about Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley Richardson, during the 1920s while they live in Paris along with the other writers and artists of that time.  It is told from Hadley's perspective, and is fiction, although it stays close to the facts as they are known about the events at that time.  I thought the time period that this takes place in was fascinating and I was constantly looking up people and events as I read.   This was a fun read and has made me want to read more about this time and some of Ernest Hemingway's works.  This book is a good vacation read, or just a fun book to read when you want something fun and interesting.  I would definitely recommend this book.

  1. I agree with Carli. I listened to this book this summer and was fascinated by the history and this perspective of a well know writer. It made me buy one of Hemingway's books at this years Christmas B&N extravaganza. And of course it didn't hurt that in the opening pages they eat at a cafe called Deux Maggots, a cafe Dad and I ate lunch at one afternoon!

  3. This was one of the books I got at the 2012 Christmas B&N trip. I really liked it. I won't write a separate review because it would be almost identical to Carli's and Sarah's reviews. Turns out Ernest Hemingway was kind of a bum, but he wrote alot of good books and the perspective this book gives of him is worth a read.
